AND WHAT ABOUT ...

PLANTS THAT MAKE MUSIC !!

This may sound a little far fetched … but seeing and hearing is believing.

Using a special  interface between the plants and a device like the old synthesizers of the 70’s it is possible to not only hear the music produced by plants ..  but to gauge their emotions and inter-relate with them.

The device, and the resulting music, will be a highlight of this year’s Body Mind and Psychic Expo.

The device’s owner, who just likes to be called Nikolas, says the idea of conversing with plants is common in a spiritual community in the northern Italian area of Damanhur, and that’s where he studied the techniques and purchased the interface.

He says the electronic instrument  measures vibrations and turns them into a .midi file which is fed into the synthesizer to produce the concert of music.

Nikolas says  “a plant such as a cacti will experiment with producing sounds when first connected  and will then teach other plants around to also play similar sounds.”

“Some plants favor  making sounds like a piano ..  others may prefer an organ or a flute.”

This is the biggest event of this type in Australia and it’s right here in Adelaide at the Adelaide Showground on Saturday  and Sunday May 30th and 31st 2009.

There will be wandering minstrels and magicians and of course our very popular family band  “Tamarisque”  to charm you while you eat in the atrium.
